Leadership that stays: from 2008 to today
A look at the people who have led the Home since 2008, and the Managing Director guiding it today, MCS Anna Freda Odudu Charles.

Behind every child who grows up well is a team of adults who stay. This issue looks back at the people who have led Holy Mother Elizabeth Redeemed Children’s Home.
The early years
In 2008, Matron Helen Akadu and Mother Glory Francis (Salem) were appointed to care for the children. In 2010, Eno Glory Ntuk was appointed as the Home’s first Manager.
A decade of growth
In 2020, HE JerryAnn Whiters was appointed to oversee the Home, with Princess Esu Ekpo serving as General Manager. In September 2021, HE Mercy Dornu was appointed Director, followed by HE Ngozi Egwu on 16 November 2021.
Today
Since 2023, the Home has been managed by MCS Anna Freda Odudu Charles as Managing Director. The task remains the one set out in the Home’s mission: to protect the children from all forms of abuse, and to raise well-rounded children who lack nothing in life, surrounded with love and equal treatment, while developing every talent inherent in each child.
We are grateful to every leader, caregiver and volunteer who has served the Home.
